Anti-plagiarism and AI Detection Policy

1. General provisions

The Editorial Board of the Scientific Technical Journal «Metal Science and Treatment of Metals» publishes only original materials that have not been previously published elsewhere and are not under consideration by other journals.

2. Plagiarism detection

All manuscripts submitted to the editorial office undergo mandatory screening using the StrikePlagiarism.com service (or other specialised software for detecting text borrowings).

The editorial board analyzes the screening report individually for each manuscript.

3. Proper citations and plagiarism

  • Proper citations (formatted in quotation marks with an accurate reference to the source), self-citations (references to the authors' own previous work), and standard phrases (e.g., "The aim of this work is...") are not considered a violation.

  • Plagiarism, i.e. undocumented borrowing of another person's text, ideas, data or research results without proper reference to the original source, is not permitted regardless of the amount borrowed.

4. AI-generated content detection

In accordance with the journal's Artificial Intelligence Policy, all manuscripts are also screened for content generated or substantially edited by generative AI models (ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Claude, etc.) without proper disclosure by the authors.

Detection of undeclared use of AI is considered by the editorial board as a violation of academic integrity.

5. Actions in case of violations

5.1. At the manuscript review stage:

  • If minor plagiarism or undeclared use of AI is detected, the editorial board notifies the authors and provides an opportunity to remedy the shortcomings (add proper citations and references to original sources, disclose the use of AI).

  • In the case of gross or repeated violations, the editorial board may reject the manuscript without the right to revision and notify the author's institution.

5.2. After publication:

  • If plagiarism or concealment of AI use is proven after publication, the editorial board will consider retraction of the article in accordance with the Retraction Policy.

  • Authors found guilty of gross violations may be denied publication of future articles in the journal.

6. Authors' responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for the originality of the submitted material, the correctness of citations and the proper disclosure of the use of artificial intelligence tools in the preparation of the manuscript.
