Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy
Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy
The Editorial Board of the Scientific Technical Journal «Metal Science and Treatment of Metals» ensures long-term preservation and open access to all published articles. Archiving is carried out to guarantee the availability of scholarly content for future generations of researchers.
1. Archiving Locations
Electronic copies of all journal issues are preserved in the following locations:
-
Journal's own website – all articles are made openly available in the «Archives» section (https://momjournal.org.ua/index.php/mom/issue/archive) immediately upon publication.
-
Institutional repository – archival copies are deposited in the repository of Physico-Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
-
National Repository of Academic Texts – electronic copies of articles are transferred for long-term preservation to the «Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine» platform of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, NAS of Ukraine.
2. Technical Preservation Measures
-
File format – articles are preserved in PDF (Portable Document Format), which ensures the integrity of the original data and correct content display.
-
Persistent identifiers – each article is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), providing a permanent and stable link to the article regardless of changes to the website structure.
-
Metadata – bibliographic descriptions of articles are stored in a structured format, ensuring their searchability and indexing in international databases.
3. Accessibility Guarantees
-
Perpetual open access – the journal guarantees that all published articles will remain openly accessible on the journal's website indefinitely.
-
Post-cessation plan – in the unlikely event that the journal ceases publication, the entire archive will be transferred to a national repository or other long-term preservation system that will ensure continued access to published materials.
-
Self-archiving – authors are permitted to deposit electronic copies of their articles (the published version) in personal web resources, institutional or subject repositories, provided that a proper bibliographic link or hyperlink to the original publication on the journal's website is included.
4. Archiving Frequency
The journal's content is archived following the publication of each issue, ensuring continuous and timely preservation of scholarly works.
5. Review of the Archiving Policy
This archiving policy is reviewed every two years to ensure alignment with best practices in scholarly publishing and content preservation. Any updates or changes will be announced on the journal's official website.
